Optical Coating Technician

Coating technician will be esponsible for operating a vacuum chamber to deposit high performance multi-layer thin film coatings to optical components, using a spectrophotometer to verify optical specifications. You will maintain chambers including disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly. You are willing to work various shifts. You will require good knowledge of technical math, measurement systems and ability to read blueprints.

• Experience in a thin film coating / precision optics environment

• AA degree or High School diploma with relevant work history

• Ability to meet deadlines and handle a fast paced production environment

• Quick to pick up and follow new procedures with attention to detail

• Execute vacuum processes to deposit UV, visible and near infrared coatings

• Able to verify coating results by measurement on spectrophotometer

• Able to perform routine cleaning and refurbishment of electron and ion beam source assemblies

• Ability and willingness to learn new equipment and processes

• Able to plan work, maintain records and supplies

• Basic understanding of mechanical systems and equipment

• Good communication skills

• Comfortable with Windows XP and PC based control/measurement software

• Operation of Leybold APS and Syrus Pro deposition systems

• Experience with optical monitoring of deposition process

• Maintenance of vacuum subsystems and electron beam guns
