SpectroPipetter for Microliter-volume Samples
A complete, small-footprint spectrophotometric system for measuring microliter-volume samples -- including the SpectroPipetter, an Ocean Optics miniature fiber optic spectrometer and a compact UV or VIS-NIR light source -- can be configured for less than $5,000. The SpectroPipetter's small size and miniature fiber optics offer significant advantages over the familiar cuvette holder-spectrophotometer setup. For example, that particular sampling model requires a much larger volume of the sample, as well as additional components such as the cuvette and cuvette holder, plus optical fibers. Equally important is the multi-function design of the SpectroPipetter. The SpectroPipetter's fiber optics not only carry light to and from the sample, but act as a plunger to retrieve the sample. Indeed, the tip of the pipette includes a proprietary micro-sample cell that acts as an optical waveguide for aqueous sample solutions. The SpectroPipetter is especially useful for applications where only very small (microliter-level) sample volumes are available, such as in protein chemistry, molecular biology, and forensics toxicology. To remove fluid or dye from the pipetter's cell, use the PIP-UCK Cleaning Kit, which contains an ultrasonic cleaning bath, a bottle of cleaning solution and a stand to hold the pipetter. Or purchase the PIP-UCK-CS Cleaning solution separately.
SpectroPipetter for Microliter-volume Samples -- Specifications
* The useable wavelength range of the SpectroPipetter is dependent on the wavelength range of the miniature fiber optic spectrometer to which it is coupled.
