How do I know which fibers to use with my FIA flow cell?
The flow cells come in two versions: one that connects to fibers with SMA 905 connectors and one that connects to fibers that a ferrule on one end and an SMA 905 connector on the other end. The ferrule end connects to the cell and can slide in and out of the cell, effectively allowing you to adjust pathlength.
But we haven’t answered the question yet. Here’s a simple rule of thumb: any item code with an “SMA” in it (FIA-Z-SMA-5-SS, for example) indicates the need for SMA 905 terminated fibers. Item codes with “ZCELL” or “1000-Z” in the root (FIA-ZCELL-PEEK, FIA-1000-Z-PEEK) indicate that ferrule-terminated fibers are necessary. Two fibers are required, regardless of flow cell type.
