There are two ways to calibrate the products you use:
- We perform the calibration for you.
- We provide you with the tools and know-how.
If you choose our calibration services, you benefit from our controlled metrology facility and experience in calibrating thousands of instruments. We offer Radiometric Calibration Services, Spectrometer Wavelength Calibration Services and Oxygen Sensor Calibration Services.
Once in our metrology lab, we will calibrate your system using a NIST-traceable light source for which the irradiance as a function of distance is known. This gives us the flexibility to calibrate a wide range of sampling optics, extended wavelength ranges, and at particularly high and low intensities.
If the calibrated system includes a fiber, care must be taken during use to avoid damage to or stress on the fiber and fiber junctions to maintain the accuracy of the calibration. This is particularly important when an integrating sphere is used for collection, as the integrating sphere is significantly heavier the fiber attached.
Our services are available for radiometric calibration across UV-VIS and VIS-NIR ranges. An absolute irradiance measurement yields a spectrum that is accurate in shape and magnitude. Typically, the y-axis scale is expressed in power or flux units, from which other measurements can be derived. Calibration is performed using a source with known power output. We will radiometrically calibrate your Ocean Optics spectrometer using traceable standards and industry procedures.

Spectrometers are exposed to changes in temperature and other conditions that can affect performance. To ensure reliable performance, regular wavelength calibration is recommended. We offer several options. Select the appropriate WAVECAL option for your spectrometer and we will handle the rest. Add a Certificate of Calibration for proof of calibration.

Our optical O2 sensors are affected by temperature. We offer full calibration services for all of our probes and patches.

Spectrometer Wavelength Calibration Resources
To calibrate your spectrometer, use a wavelength calibration source such as our HG-1 Mercury-Argon source. We also offer krypton, neon, argon and xenon.
